Moving well is an important part of quality of life and is a great reflection of our overall health. Pilates gives us a way to improve the movement experience in a challenging, but safe way for individuals.
M3 Performance and Physical Therapy began using Pilates to help clients improve their movement experience completely by happenstance. Our annual learning and development plan took us in many directions and along the way we were introduced to some of the basic principles like whole body movement, control and breathing in several different courses. While the courses we took were not associated with Pilates, there were some principles that continued to overlap. One year while working on a golf project with a Pilates instructor, she pointed out several ways we had already incorporated Pilates tenants in our client care. That conversation jump started what is now our M3 Pilates. We found some skilled master instructors and through instructor training blended the Pilates principles into our movement philosophy. The reason behind this was rooted in our frustration with being part of a system that routinely worked with “broken” clients. Many of our clients reported not having a place that allowed them to keep investing their health and wellness without breaking down. Moving well is one of the basic ingredients we need for a great quality of life and when a person can move well it can be life changing. We felt that by providing a fun, challenging and safe environment for clients to improve their movement experience we could help them live life well.
We like to think of our classes as a Pilates experience and want clients to leave feeling more confident about what their bodies are capable of. It’s more than exercising; it’s taking control of the amazing gift that is your body and owning the quintessential tools to live your best life.
Joseph Pilates introduced the Principles of Pilates: Breathing, Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision, Balanced Muscle Development, Rhythm. Each of these are an integral part of the M3 Movement Experience and consequently M3 Pilates.
